F. Neyer published a long exposed image from M101 within the “FG Astrofotografie” on 2012-07-03. He noticed an unknown tidal stream around the neighbour galaxy NGC 5485 (northwest of M101). After intensive inspections by Karachentsev et al. a lot of dwarf galaxies around M 101 were found. During this time a Group around Brenmes et al. found several dwarfs at the late nineties, furthermore the dragonfly-team found similar galaxies in 2014.
