IC 342

On 2015-10-06 H. Ziegler published an image of IC 342 within our TBG-Group. He exposed 12.5 hours for this deep look. The north direction is on the left side. IC 342 is a large nearby galaxy, heavily obstructed by interstellar matter of our Milky Way. Radio observations have shown that IC 342 is much more extended than we can judge just by optical images. So in optical light, deep images with long exposure are necessary to reach the outer districts of IC 342. There are clear hints that there is a signature of faint extensions of spiral arms. Up till now, amateurs don´t think about NIR photography …
