Der “Viktor Ambartsumian International Prize” (VAIP) wird mit insgesamt 500,000 $ dotiert. Er wird seit 2010 alle zwei Jahre verliehen. F\u00fcr 2014 entschied das internationale Verleihungskomitee, die drei Astrophysiker Prof. Felix Aharonian (Armenien), Prof. Igor Karachentsev (Russland) und Prof. Brent Tully (USA) mit dem VAIP zu ehren.<\/p>\n
Felix Aharonian (Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, Ireland and Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics, Heidelberg, Germany) wurde der Preis f\u00fcr herausragende Leistungen auf dem Gebiet der Hochenergie-Astrophysik verliehen, dazu f\u00fcr seine f\u00fchrende Rolle bei der Entwicklung eines stereoskopischen Systems f\u00fcr Cherenkov-Telekope. Igor Karachentsev (Special Astrophysical Observatory, Russia) und Brent Tully (Institute of Astronomy, University of Hawaii, USA) erhielten den Preis f\u00fcr ihre fundamentalen Beitr\u00e4ge in der Kosmologie des Lokalen Universums.<\/p>\n

The “Viktor Ambartsumian International Prize” (VAIP) is endowed with a total of 500,000 dollars. It has been awarded every two years since 2010. For 2014, the International Award Committee decided to honor the three astrophysicists Prof. Felix Aharonian (Armenia), Prof. Igor Karachentsev (Russia) und Prof. Brent Tully (USA) with the VAIP.<\/p>\n
Felix Aharonian (Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, Ireland and Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics, Heidelberg, Germany) was awarded the VAIP for outstanding achievements in the field of high Energy Astrophysics, furthermore for his leading role in development of a stereoscopic system for Cherenkov telescopes. Igor Karachentsev (Special Astrophysical Observatory, Russia) and Brent Tully (Institute of Astronomy, University of Hawaii, USA) were honored for their fundamental contributions, concerning the cosmology of the “Local Universe”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
